It is difficult to write, especially on weekends and nights, when you have family time. As a matter of fact, right now it is Sunday. My wife is watching television and my daughter is playing. I thought it was the perfect time to write.
Finding the time can prove challenging. I understand the importance of making time for your family. I really do. That being said, does the reciprocal hold true? Does your wife or husband really understand what it feels like to write? To want to write so much that it feels like you will burst if you do not? It is as if an innate purpose is drivig me forward; propelling me to sit down on my laptop and just write. It could be about anything. It is a compulsion, some say. So? Who cares what it is as long as you manifest something with it. It could be a blog like this one or a personal diary, short storeis, novels, poetry and a host of other venues that is worth exploring.
While it may prove futile sometimes when you want to write, do not let that hamper your need to write. Find the time and act accordingly. Just write and let it flow. It could be at night when your family is in bed or it could be at lunchtime at work. Whatever the case may be, if you want to write, choose the time and do it.
That may seem a simplistic approach, but what other way than the easy way. Why make things complicated? If you have a family that does not support your writing habit, then you should find a compromise. A compromise is key to enable you to continue to write.
If you want to write, you will find a solution if you really want to. I firmly believe that. Let me know what you think.
